27 Dresses
“After serving as a bridesmaid 27 times, a young woman wrestles with the idea of standing by her sister’s side as her sibling marries the man she’s secretly in love with.” www.imdb.com
The movie I chose to make a poster on is 27 Dresses. The poster includes the title of the movie, images that evoke the qualities of the movie that most interest me, and an excerpt from the screenplay. When I was creating my thumbnails for this piece, I asked my friend, Laura, to sketch me out a few dresses. I ended up using those dresses for my final piece. I really like the line art quality about them. 27 Dresses is definitely a “chick flick” so when deciding what dialogue I wanted to put on my poster, I thought that I should go with something unexpected. I like that my poster looks very “wedding-like” from far away, but when looked at closely, it’s very cynical. I pulled the color of the background from a Tiffany’s bag. I think that just about every girl knows what that color means: Jewelry! I really like the way that I cut the poster in half with the white “band.” I also am very happy with my choice to use just two colors, just like Tiffany & Co. uses.
